Duties
- Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and delivery vans, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries and pickups
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles and report any issues promptly
- Load and unload goods, ensuring items are secured properly during transit
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding schedules and delivery updates
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance
- Assist with minor mechanical repairs or troubleshooting when necessary
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence with relevant endorsements for commercial driving (e.g., driver)
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or commercial driver with a strong driving record
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to operate various types of vehicles safely and efficiently
- Previous experience in delivery or logistics roles is preferred
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and long periods of driving
